Iconic lifestyle expert Martha Stewart has made history by gracing the cover of Sports Illustrated’s renowned Swimsuit Issue for the first time. At 81 years old, she holds the distinction of being the oldest person to be featured on the cover. Joining her as cover stars for the 2023 issue are Megan Fox, Kim Petras, and Brooks Nader.

Breaking Barriers at 81

“When I heard that I was going to be on the cover of Sports Illustrated Swimsuit, I thought, Oh, that’s pretty good, I’m going to be the oldest person I think ever on a cover of Sports Illustrated,” Stewart shared. “And I don’t think about age very much, but I thought that this is kind of historic.”

Stewart’s portrait for the Swimsuit Issue was captured in the beautiful setting of the Dominican Republic. Reflecting on the experience, she admitted that it presented a challenge but felt that she rose to the occasion.

During the photoshoot, Stewart experimented with around ten different outfits. The chosen cover image features her in a white bathing suit with a plunging neckline, elegantly draped with an orange shawl over her shoulders.

Despite her groundbreaking achievement as the oldest cover star, Stewart emphasizes that age should not define a person.

“Age is not the determining factor in terms of friendship or in terms of success, but what people do, how people think, how people act, that’s what’s important and not your age,” Stewart expressed.

In a recent interview with InStyle, she discussed being referred to as a “bona fide sex symbol” at her advanced age. Stewart sees herself as a teacher, aiming to inspire others to look great and maintain a positive attitude about aging. Her viral thirst trap posts on social media are a testament to her belief in embracing life with confidence and style.
