During teenage years, there is hardly anything more humiliating than having to spend time with your parents. I recall walking behind my parents at a distance when we were in public, almost as if there was something embarrassing about them.

Recently, a father from Texas discovered that his 17-year-old son was not behaving well in school, which led him to contemplate the most severe punishment he could mete out. Although he mulled over confiscating his son’s cell phone or grounding him, he eventually devised an ingenious plan that has earned him commendations from parents all over the globe.

On multiple occasions, the teacher had informed the family that their adolescent son, Brad, was excessively talkative during classes. Subsequently, his father, Bradley, issued an ultimatum to his loquacious son.

According to Buzzfeed, Brad’s father stated, “For some reason, I said, ‘If we receive another call, I will personally attend your class and sit beside you.'”

His son didn’t think he was serious and carried on disrupting his physics class continuing to disturb the teacher and pupils.

But when Dad Brad received yet another call about his son’s disruptive behavior it was time to stick to his word.

‘I didn’t even notice him’

It wasn’t something dad Brad wanted to do but he had to shock his son into behaving.

“Friday is my only day off, so my wife wakes me up and says, ‘Brad, it’s time for you to go to school.’ I thought, Oh no, what have I done?” the dad said.

The next day student Brad walked into his physics class as usual and to his horror saw his dad waiting for him by his desk.

“I didn’t even notice him until after I had said hi to all of my friends, but I was super shocked,” the teen said according to Buzzfeed.

The other teenagers in the classroom enjoyed seeing Brad suffer with his dad sitting next to him and had a good laugh at his expense.

Brad’s sister Mollie, also had a good laugh at her dad showing up in Brad’s class and shared the story on social media.

“My dad told my brother if he got another call from the physics teacher complaining he would go sit in his class..dad got another call,” writes Molli on her Twitter post.

Even mother Denise Howard posted about her husband’s actions.

“The Howard men are famous,” said Bradley’s mom. “We’ve had a great time with this but more than anything we hope we don’t get any more calls about Bradley interrupting in physics class!”

Like his wife Brad senior hopes this is a one off as he wasn’t quite ready to enter a high school classroom.

Dad said the physics teacher was grateful but added, “I pray it was a one-time thing,” he said. “I don’t think I’d ever do it again.”

I did the same thing when my son ‘couldn’t remember’ to turn in his homework. After a few days of me sitting next to him in a number of classes, his memory improved drastically…

It’s so good to see parents follow through on their threats. Consistency and teaching your teen to respect teachers is so vital.
