After Will Smith’s intense exchange with Chris Rock, in which he slapped the comedian onstage before winning Best Actor for his performance in King Richard, Jaden apparently showed his support for his father on Twitter.

“That’s how we do it,” he wrote late Sunday night shortly after the show’s end. In another tweet, Jaden shared a photo of himself wearing sunglasses in the back seat of the car, writing: “My dad’s speech made me cry.”
It all started with Rock making fun of Jada Pinkett Smith’s hair loss, which she is open about after struggling with hair loss for years. “Jada, I love you. J,” said Jane 2, he joked, “I can’t wait to see you.”
Will, 53, then went on stage and punched Rock in the face, sending audiences and viewers around the world into a panic. “Oh, wow,” Rock said, seemingly surprised when Will returned to his seat. “Will Smith just hit me.”

“Keep my wife’s name out of your mouth!” He yelled at Rock onstage after he sat down again.
“Wow, dude, it was a J.Jane joke” – and Will replied again, “Keep my wife’s name out of your mouth!”
“I will, okay?” Before continuing, Rock responded, “That was… the best night in television history,” and presented the award.
He’ll only acknowledge the moment in his acceptance speech after winning the Best Actor award for his performance as Venus and Serena Williams’ father Richard Williams in King Richard, but he didn’t include Rock in his apology.

“I want to apologize to the Academy. I want to apologize to all my fellow candidates,” he said.
And the actor joked: “Art mimics life: I look like a crazy dad. Just like they said about Richard Williams. But love will make you do crazy things.”
He later added: “To be able to love my mother, my family and my wife… Thank you for the honor. Thank you for this moment…. I hope the academy will invite me back.”
Smith has since reportedly apologized to Chris.
