If you’ve ever worked as a babysitter or even taken on the responsibility of someone else’s kids, you’ll understand how hard it is to take care of kids that aren’t your own.
There are many babysitters who take this responsibility and work very seriously and without a doubt go above and beyond what their parents ask!
Kirsten Miles has been caring for George and Vara Roscoe’s three children for several weeks, but when one of the children’s life is threatened, she must make a terrible, life-changing decision.

Roskos will be eternally grateful for her choice!
Kiersten Miles, a 22-year-old college student from New Jersey, needed work to fund her education, so she approached the Rosko family through a friend and immediately began working with them.
Kiersten soon developed a strong bond with the couple’s three children, especially with Talia, the youngest.

Talia needed a new liver due to a rare and life-threatening liver condition, and Kirsten was immediately on hand to donate part of her liver to help.
At first George, Vara, and Roscoe were concerned, and Kirsten explained to them how serious she was about her proposal. Donating part of your liver is different from donating blood; Invasive surgery carries many risks.
Kiersten persisted and immediately asked to become a donor to Talia; When the test results came back, Kiersten was a perfect match for Talia!

Talia’s parents were overjoyed and grateful to Kiersten for her altruistic deed; nevertheless, they made sure not to press Kiersten to make the decision since they didn’t want her to regret it later.
Kiersten had no regrets, and on the 11th of January 2017, she and Talia drove to the hospital together to undergo the 14-hour surgery.
The surgeons gave Kiersten anesthesia before removing a portion of her liver and transplanting it into baby Talia.

Thankfully, the transplant was successful, and Talia and Kiersten healed fast thanks to the amazing surgeons.
Talia is refreshed today and doing everything a toddler should be doing; she can now play, run, and eat like she’s never done before!

Kiersten, of course, deserves a big hug and a heartfelt “thank you” for her incredible effort. Some people truly have a golden heart!
Kiersten offered us hope and inspiration in a brutal, cold world, and she continues to do so through her story!
