Life can be difficult at times, and things might become difficult, and all we can do is fight our battles and hope for a better future.

Things are considerably more difficult for persons with disabilities because people can be unkind and, rather than accepting them, regard them as different.

Alison Lapper was born without limbs, and doctors predicted she wouldn’t live long, yet she defied expectations. Alison, on the other hand, had a difficult childhood and was taken away from her mother when she was only a few weeks old, ostensibly so that the state could properly care for her.

Alison and those who were disabled in some way were referred to as “weird little monsters” in the community where she grew up. Regardless of how difficult things became, she flourished.

Alison went on to become a successful artist, creating stunning paintings with her mouth.

One wish remained for this strong woman who never gave up fighting for a better life. She wanted to be a mother, but she knew it would be difficult. She had multiple miscarriages as a child, which was unfortunate.

“I’d been pregnant in my 20s, had four miscarriages, and had always felt that being a mother was out of the question for me.” But I knew I wouldn’t miscarry when I got pregnant again in April 1999. She told The Guardian, “I was really fit and healthy, and everything in my body and mind felt fine.”

Alison gained notoriety when she posed naked for a statue while eight months pregnant. According to the Independent, the Marc Quinn statue stood in Trafalgar Square for two years.

Alison’s spouse abandoned her just before she was due to give birth. She was alone, but she felt she would make a wonderful mother. Her son Parys was born after that. “He was a fortunate miracle,” she recalled. “He was healthy, he was cute, he was a blessed miracle.”

“I just cried and cried when I saw him,” she claimed, according to Mail Online. “The feelings I had were unexplainable. I had never envisaged myself as a mother, nor did I believe it was feasible. But I was overcome with emotion when they placed him on my shoulder and I gave him a small kiss on the head and whispered ‘hello.’”

“My disability hasn’t ever created a barrier between us,” this single mother remarked when her son was five years old, “but if the children at school ridicule him or make harsh comments about his mother, he may find it difficult to deal with.”

“…we’ve been through a lot as a couple.” Since he was born, I’ve been the only one who has been in his life on a consistent basis.”

Parys was frequently bullied due to his mother’s appearance, which had a significant impact on him.

Parys died of an alleged overdose when he was 19 years old. Alison’s heart had been crushed into a million pieces, and she had lost her “best piece of artwork,” as she referred to him.

The New York Times said that Alison Lapper “spent eight hours with him, crying, holding him, and kissing his hair.”

This loss has left us heartbroken. Alison was a wonderful mother, but her son was taken away from her due to bullying. Rest in peace, he was a good man.
