Demi Moore and Bruce Willis have become grandparents.
Rumer Willis, the former couple’s eldest daughter, gave birth to a baby girl last week. She made the announcement with boyfriend Derek Richard Thomas on Tuesday.
“You are pure magic,” the new parents captioned a photo of their newborn daughter, Louetta Isley Thomas Willis.
“Born at home on Tuesday, April 18th,” they wrote, “you are more than we could have ever dreamed of.”
Rumer and Derek revealed in December that they were expecting their first child together.
Moore acknowledged her enthusiasm for her new life role.
“Entering my hot kooky unhinged grandma era,” she captioned her daughter’s announcement when she reshared it.
Rumer’s pregnancy comes at a difficult moment for the family, since her father, Bruce, has been publicly diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia. Despite the tragic diagnosis, everyone in the family is really pleased to welcome a new member into the family.
“[My parents] are overjoyed. “My sisters are overjoyed, and it’s so exciting to be welcoming the first grandchild in our family, especially since we’re such a large group at this point,” she told People.
She went on to say that the enthusiasm has also helped her cope with some of the more difficult situations she’s had to face in recent months.
“…even when things are difficult or frustrating, I’m just so excited that it always kind of trumps [everything]…” But it’s a wild ride. It’s the wildest sensation I’ve ever had, even more so than I could have imagined.
Rumer and Derek, many congratulations! Also, congrats to Bruce and Demi on becoming grandparents! May you all have a wonderful time during this extremely unique moment in your lives.
