When a nurse gives birth to the wrong baby for a woman, the new mother turns pale.

Before she is released, the nurse examines Lucy’s twins, but Lucy is surprised to get them back. After the examination, the nurse raised two children and Lucy gave birth to a boy and a girl.

Lucy and her husband Ross have been trying to conceive for a long time and were thrilled to learn that they were having twins.

The investigation revealed that they were expecting twins, a boy and a girl, and the couple were looking forward to their arrival. When the nurse came back with the kids after the exam, they were both girls. Lucy’s face turned red.

“What happened to my son? What exactly did I do to him? And who is this other girl’s child?” she cried, her eyes falling on the nurse who had just taken in the children.

“These are your daughters, ma’am,” Sister Savannah replied, staring at the documents. “I’ve checked the reports carefully and I’m sure there are no errors in them.”

‘Are you totally out of your mind?’ Lucy got angry. “I have all the reports that I was going to have a boy and a girl. After the birth I was told the same thing. It is impossible for both of them to be a woman!”

As Lucy lifted her sheets, she noticed the nurse’s dismay. Dr Linda Carter came in when she wanted to say something to her. ‘Ma’am, can you keep calm? There are other patients in this hospital,” Lucy explained to her.

“Quiet? Seriously?” Lucy closed her eyes. ‘Your nurse happened to bring me a young woman and then assured me she was right! Is that how your hospital administration works? Should I call the doctor’s chief and inform him of the situation?’

“Doctor, I concur with my wife. We don’t want to cause a commotion, either “Ross stepped in to help. “Your nurse, on the other hand, is lying. We have no idea why she’s acting this way, but if we don’t get our boy back soon, we’ll have to contact the cops!”

Dr. Carter said, “Please, sir, calm down.” “I’m sure there’s a misunderstanding here. Savannah has been employed at this facility for a number of years. Maybe she brought the wrong paperwork. Is it okay if I take a peek at the papers, Savannah?” Dr. Carter was curious. Savannah, on the other hand, refused to give it to her and instead began stammering, “No, ma’am, there’s no need… I mean, I double-checked and they’re all good.”

Dr. Carter noticed something wasn’t quite right and whispered to her, “It’s all right. Allow me to briefly review the reports.” However, with further examination, she discovered Lucy was correct.

As she flipped through the pages, she added, “Please give me a minute, ma’am.” “Savannah, I believe, brought the wrong documents. Savannah was perplexed since there was another patient named Lucy Matthews.”

Lucy glared at her and remarked, “I’m delighted you discovered your error.” “Next time, I would advise you to hire responsible persons as members of the staff!”

As she turned to face Savannah, Dr. Carter apologized again, “I’m sorry, ma’am.” “Savannah, would you mind coming along with me? I’d like you to locate the appropriate reports for me.”

Dr. Carter was quickly followed by Savannah, but Lucy noticed tears in her eyes as she walked away. She had the uneasy impression Dr. Carter and Savannah were up to something, so she decided to investigate.

She saw them both walk into Dr. Carter’s office and then heard a shriek. Savannah has to be it, she reasoned. Lucy sat on one of the seats just outside the room and listened to what they were saying because the door was slightly ajar.

“Savannah, what were you thinking?” Dr. Carter had a stern tone in his voice. “Lucy Matthews gave birth to twins today at 10:30 a.m., a boy and a girl. That was stated in the reports as well. Why are you deceiving them? Be truthful!”

Savannah wailed, “I didn’t have a choice, ma’am.” “My sister is the mother of the other newborn girl. Her husband had abandoned her after learning of the pregnancy, and she died shortly after giving birth. I had the option of adopting her, but my spouse declined.”

“How about putting her in a nursing home?” Dr. Carter made the proposal. “She’d be in good hands there.”

“I’m afraid I won’t be able to help you, ma’am. My sister’s final desire for her daughter was for her to grow up in a loving family “Savannah was in tears.

“I felt Mrs. Matthews and her husband would make a lovely family for her when I observed them supporting each other this morning. As a result, I decided to trade Mrs. Matthew’s kid for my sister’s daughter and put him in a nursing home.”

Dr. Carter pointed out, “But that’s not correct, Savannah.” “That’s something we can’t allow to happen. Now is the time to find Mrs. Matthews’ son. And, absolutely, this should be kept private between us. Allow me to see what I can do to assist you.”

When Lucy heard the story, her tears welled up. The exchange of the children had no malicious motive. A hapless mother wished for her niece to be adopted by a nice family. To be honest, I feel sad for the kid. Lucy returned to her room and pondered.

Dr. Carter returned to Lucy’s room a few minutes later and gave over her newborn boy. “Please accept my apologies for the misunderstanding, ma’am. On behalf of my colleagues, I apologise “Dr. Carter stated the following.

Lucy chose not to file a complaint against her after hearing the entire tale earlier. But every time she tried to sleep at home that night, her mind wandered back to the unfortunate girl, and her innocent face flashed before her.

“I can’t forget about her, Ross,” Lucy said the next morning over breakfast. “I had a dream the other night about a girl who had wandered into our house by accident and was now living quietly with us. I know it’s absurd, but I can’t get that thought out of my head.”

Ross stated, “It’s because of what occurred yesterday, honey.” “Distract yourself by doing something else. Let’s go somewhere, shall we? You’re going to feel a lot better.”

Lucy stared at Ross and said, “No, Ross.” “I’m not in the mood to abandon that youngster. I would like to adopt her.”

“However, honey!” Ross sobbed. “Are you certain? We currently have two kids to care for, and adding a third would be simply too much! Don’t make decisions based on emotions! We must be pragmatic.”

“Ross, I understand, but please. I’m powerless to persuade myself. I thought about it all night and made the decision to adopt her. Is it possible for us to travel to the hospital today?”

“That’s all right, honey. I support you in all of your decisions, but I’m concerned that it will be too much for you.”

“Ross, I’m sure I’ll be able to handle it. Please?” Lucy was adamant.

Ross was first opposed to the adoption, but after holding the infant in his arms, he changed his mind. She had brown eyes with a slight green tinge, and she couldn’t take her gaze away from him. To say the least, Ross was struck by her naive appearance.

“Mr. and Mrs. Matthews, I’m thrilled you considered adopting her. She is quite fortunate “They were informed by the doctor.

“Well, doctor, we’ve tried everything for kids, and now we can’t just let a child come to us. Just let me know when we’ll be able to pick her up “Lucy remarked.

“It’ll take some time, but for the time being, I’ll submit the documentation to speed things up.”

It took some time, as the doctor had predicted, but Lucy and Ross had no regrets about their decision. They felt like their family was completely complete when they brought the child home. Amelia was the name given to the infant girl.

Savannah came to see them after discovering that Lucy and Ross had adopted the child and couldn’t thank them enough. She’s become a regular at the Matthews’ since then, spending most of her weekends with Lucy’s children, Sia and Mark, and Amelia.

What can we take away from this narrative?

Love and care, not blood, are the foundations of relationships. The adoption of Amelia by Lucy and Ross is a lovely example of this.

Some mishaps are quite lovely. Savannah brought Amelia to Lucy because she wanted her to be adopted by a good family, and the poor youngster was eventually adopted by a wonderful family.
