Carrie McGillivray might be used to seeing wildlife in her hometown of Stuart, British Columbia. But she was amazed at her last moment with wildlife on the highway. Large grizzly bears fought in front of her.

Thankfully, McGillivray got her camera ready and posted a 2 minute video of what she saw on Facebook on Friday September 20, 2019. The two roared as they attacked each other and stood on their back legs.

“You don’t normally post here, but I thought I would share this incredibly rare and amazing moment with all of these graceful comrades who are fighting!” McGillvray books. (Video below).

The bears argue on the Stuart Cassiard Highway between the Stuart and Meziuddin intersection. Stewart is a small town near the Alaskan border. McGillivray wasn’t the only one to witness a violent wrestling match. The wolf also saw him face the bear from a safe distance on the road.

“Watch out for the little wolf watching him from afar,” said McGilfry. In the video it appears that one of the bears has an advantage in the fight and after a few minutes the video ends with a bigger bear chasing the other through the bush.

Although male bears fight each other to mate with a receptive female, this usually occurs during the mating season (spring / early summer). Hence, these two bears could be fighting on the ground. Or maybe a female (a smaller bear) was defending her cubs from a male bear.
